A Legacy of Care: The Power of Community in Action

At the core of North Beach Citizens is a simple but powerful idea: neighbors helping neighbors.

For 25 years, our work has been shaped not just by programs, but by people-community partners, local businesses, and individuals who believe deeply in showing up for one another. This shared commitment is what sustains our model and allows it to endure.

We see this spirit reflected in extraordinary acts of generosity and trust.

Among them are Anne Halsted and Wells Whitney, whose legacy commitment-designating 5% of their estate-has had a transformative impact. This year, their foresight accounts for nearly 6% of our operating budget, strengthening the foundation needed to expand our work and meet growing needs.

We see this same spirit in deeply personal acts of remembrance.

After we cared for her brother during a time of homelessness, Erin Day chose to include North Beach Citizens in her estate plans. Though she lived across the country in Washington, D.C., her connection to this work never wavered. She found comfort in knowing her brother was treated with dignity and compassion-and her legacy ensures that same care will continue for others.

We are also fortunate to be supported by leaders like Susan and Daniel Daniloff, whose investment in our Strategic Planning Initiative is helping shape the future of North Beach Citizens-ensuring that the next 25 years are as strong, thoughtful, and responsive as the last.

These are more than gifts. They are partnerships-rooted in trust, compassion, and a shared belief that community care matters.

Because of this network-of neighbors, businesses, and advocates-we are able to respond to urgent needs, provide stability, and build a stronger, more connected community each day.

As we reflect on 25 years, we are reminded that this work has always been, and will always be, powered by people.

People like you.
