A look at our 2020 honoree
Since 2003, Kristie Fairchild has served as the Executive Director of North Beach Citizens. At that time, Kristie was a local artist whom Francis Ford Coppola hired to run North Beach Citizens with the belief that her artistic spirit and vision would help her create a uniquely compassionate and community-based approach to working with San Francisco’s most disenfranchised citizens.
Coppola’s intuition was correct. Under Fairchild’s helm, North Beach Citizens has helped approximately 3,000 homeless and low-income people across San Francisco find and stay in housing, and rebuild their lives, all within an atmosphere of trust, integrity, and respect.
In 2005, she was appointed by Mayor Gavin Newsom to serve on the Implementation Council for the San Francisco’s Ten-Year Plan to End Homelessness. Under Fairchild’s leadership, North Beach Citizens has also been recognized by various government officials for its work in the community, including Senator Dianne Feinstein, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, State of California Senator Mark Leno and California State Assemblyman and former San Francisco Board of Supervisors President David Chui.
As a result of her tireless and compassionate leadership on homelessness issues, in 2014 Kristie was honored as one of San Francisco’s Women of Character, Courage, and Commitment” by the San Francisco Commission and Department on the Status of Women in partnership with Mayor Ed Lee and the SF Board of Supervisors. Additionally, Kristie was recognized with the National Jefferson’s Award for Social Impact.
Join us on October 21st at our virtual event to honor Kristie’s significant contribution to the San Francisco and North Beach community.
