North Beach Citizens’ 4th Annual “Hidden Gems” Wine Tasting and Jazz Fundraiser

Join North Beach Citizens on May 17 to taste nine handcrafted, small batch wines from six family-owned California wineries.

You will enjoy:

  • A festive night discovering nine hidden gems in handcrafted, limited production California wines from the Qorkz Wine collection.

  • Tasting an array of exceptional wines (listed below) from six family-owned wineries: Bee Hunter Wine, Brooks Note Winery, Calstar Cellars, Petrified Forest Vineyards, Picayune Cellars, and V. Vineyards.

  • Listening to live jazz by the popular Vince Lateano trio in one of North Beach’s most iconic restaurant spaces.

  • Upping your wine IQ by talking with the winemakers and comparing your wine scoring talents to those of an expert panel of wine connoisseurs and sommeliers including David Glancy, master sommelier and founder of the San Francisco Wine School.

  • Dining on thoughtfully paired artisanal farinata and pizza created by William Rubel, author of The Magic of Fire: Hearth Cooking, and baked in one of North Beach’s historic wood ovens.

North Beach Citizens’ 3rd Annual Judgment of Paris --  California vs. France -- Wine Tasting Fundraiser; May 4, 2018

We hope that you enjoyed our Judgment of Paris wine tasting event hosted by Jeff and Laurie Ubben. It is an annual celebration in the spirit of the historic 1976 Paris tasting that put California winemakers on the map. This year’s twist was a move from Bordeaux to Burgundy, matching up a new slate of France’s most exclusive reds and whites with California’s finest Pinots and Chardonnays. Below is a list of the winning wines along with more information on the event.

The Jeroboam Judge - $5,000 per person
An evening of wine tasting plus special seating for one with our Judges during their formal tasting. Take home two bottles of the winning French wines [one red, one white]. Special recognition during the event on all print and Web materials. Limited seating with the judges for up to four participants.

The Magnum VIP - $2,500 per person
An evening of wine tasting plus take home a magnum of the winning California wine; special recognition on all print, Web materials and during the event.

Individual Ticket - $1,250 per person
The evening starts promptly at 6pm with a Champagne Reception and passed hors d’oeuvres, followed by the blind tasting and judging.  Live music by John Paul White while scores are tabulated at 8pm. Final tasting after winners are announced and labels revealed.
